ITALIAN referee Daniele Orsato had little choice but to book Luka Modric and Aymeric Laporte early on. Both displayed an aggressive attitude and that will always result in cautions. Orsato showed lenience after that. There were two first-half fouls by Casemiro that would have resulted in yellows from another referee — one for chopping down Kevin De Bruyne, another for dragging back Phil Foden by the collar of his shirt to stop a Manchester City attack. For the penalty, Ruben Dias didn’t get the ball, but he did get the man. The City defender slid in carelessly and clearly fouled Karim Benzema.
