Irish duo land gold again
THE all-conquering duo of KatieGeorge Dunlevy and Eve McCrystal resumed the winning habit with gold at the Paracycling World Cup in Ostend yesterday. The pair (right), who won double gold at the Paralympics in Tokyo following glory in Rio in 2016, are tuning up for the new season and expressed surprise at their victory in the time trial. ‘It’s our first race since Tokyo so you don’t really know where you are. So it was really nice to go out today and get the win,’ said McCrystal. ‘It seems like a long time since Tokyo in some ways,’ added Dunlevy. ‘We’re still getting our fitness up, and hopefully to peak for the world championships, but it was really good to get that win.’ The Paracycling Road World Championships take place in August, with the track event in October. McCrystal and Dunlevy are serial medallists in both in the past.
