€1.5m of drugs seized after raid

GARDAÍ have seized more than €1.5million worth of suspected illegal drugs after stopping a car on the M1.

A man was also arrested following searches carried out as part of Operation Tara in Kildare and Meath on Saturday. Almost €40,000 in cash was also seized.

Gardaí stopped a vehicle on the M1 in Meath and during a search found €39,750 in cash. The driver, a man in his 20s, was arrested and taken to nearby Ashbourne Garda Station, where he was detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996.

A number of properties were also searched in the Newbridge area of Co. Kildare on Saturday as part of a follow-up investigation. Around €420,000 of suspected cocaine and €1.12million of suspected cannabis were seized during a search of one property.
