TRY TO LIVE LIFE TO THE FULLEST

-

FORGIVE me for returning to something that happened last Saturday and in which you may have or have had zero interest.

But the 40,000 or so of us who were present at the Aviva Stadium at Lansdowne Road for a rugby match between Munster and Toulouse were present at something that was very special, indeed life-affirming.

That may seem somewhat over-the-top to many, an exaggeration of the importance of a mere game. But the commitment of those present to what was happening in front of them was a wonderful spectacle to be part of and to witness. The energy of the Munster fans fed into the team on the pitch and vice versa. The game ended in a draw and Munster went out of the Champions Cup at the quarter-final stage because of the result of a penalty kick.

The disappointment after the drama, euphoria and tension of the previous two hours was crushing. And yet many of us walked away with a spring in our step.

There is life after Covid, indeed when Covid is still with us. And it can be enjoyed, even if the ultimate result went the wrong way. Life is for living, with all its ups and downs, and this day was the epitome of that.
