Warring Wags have forgotten meaning of a worthwhile life
REBEKAH Vardy and Coleen Rooney are wasting obscene amounts of money over a dispute that matters only to them.
At the same time, women, children and the elderly are having to abandon their homes, lives and loved ones in Ukraine and flee into the unknown as refugees. Mrs Vardy and Mrs Rooney are frittering away hundreds of thousands of pounds on legal fees that they could have donated to charities who are helping refugees in their most desperate hour.
It’s time we stopped giving these Wags so much publicity. Let’s face it, they are only famous because their husbands were lucky enough to have exceptional skills that have earned them a lot of money.
Perhaps in the midst of their anger they have forgotten the feelings of their families and the true meaning of living a worthwhile life. B. O’MAHONY,

Grow up, Leo!
I AGREE with the letter writer who wrote about Leo Varadkar’s priorities (Letters, May 10). I think he is becoming bitter when he speaks about keeping Sinn Féin out of government. He’s beginning to sound like Jeffrey Donaldson.
As long as voters go their way they don’t think of anyone else. They don’t give credit to anyone using their own brain. The younger people are more educated now than when we were growing up. We usually voted for parties because our parents voted for them. So grow up Leo and realise the world is changing.

Long wait ahead
THE proposed new maternity hospital and its 299-year rent deal reminds me of Sagrada Familia in Barcelona. Groundbreaking March 19, 1882; 140 years ago, and not complete yet.
If the new children’s hospital is anything to go by, the new maternity hospital might need all those 299 years before it’s open for patients. And so it goes.

Leaks everywhere
THE Mail tells us Dr Ronan Glynn’s departure from the Department Of Health ‘needs a thorough investigation’.
Name what does NOT need an investigation? This Government is a cross between the FBI and Lourdes! ‘Leaks’ come under the DPP or Irish Water. God help us all. Is it okay to say God? PHILOMENA KENNEDY,

Neutrality gone AWOL
ON April 27, the Defence Post military journal reported that: ‘Australia will deliver six M777 155mm lightweight towed howitzers and ammunition to Ukraine as part of a Au$26.7million package to bolster the country’s defences against the Russian invasion.’
On May 4, a large Ukrainian Antonov 124 transport aircraft, registration number UR-82072 took off from Amberley Royal Australian Air Force base near Brisbane, Australia. It made refuelling stops in Japan, Anchorage in Alaska, Edmonton and Goose Bay in Canada. It arrived at Shannon Airport on Saturday, May 7 about 5.40pm stayed overnight at Shannon and took off on Sunday, May 8 at about 12.11pm and flew to Rzeszow airport in south east Poland which is the main delivery airport for sending weapons and munitions into Ukraine.
If this aircraft was transporting weapons and munitions, which is very likely, it would have needed the approval of the Minister for Transport, Green Party leader Eamon Ryan TD and probably also the approval of Minister for Foreign Affairs and Defence Simon Coveney TD.
Over two thirds of the Irish people support Irish neutrality. If democracy means government of the people, by the people and for the people, then our government should not be acting against the wishes of the Irish people and in serious breach of international laws on neutrality.
