Kerry says no to nanny state

-

A HERD of 40 wild goats are wreaking havoc in Kerry and should be relocated to Cork, a councillor has said.

Fianna Fáil’s Cllr John Francis Flynn said the goats are ‘in and out of people’s homes’ as well as causing trouble for motorists on the Ring of Kerry.

Cllr Flynn spoke to the Irish Daily Mail about a relocation plan for the animals, which, he believes, are not only a danger to the local area, but to themselves.

He has been inundated with phone calls from constituents who are trying to keep the animals out of their gardens.

Mr Flynn also said he’s aware of at least five crashes in the last week from goats running out onto the road. ‘Local schools had to put up perimeters,’ he said.

He said they have also caused accidents on the Ring of Kerry road – about five in the last ‘three to four weeks’.

Cllr Francis said yesterday he had an expert coming from Cork to attempt to ‘relocate them to a safer location’.
