Man badly beaten in playground assault

A MAN is in serious condition in hospital after he was badly beaten in a south Dublin playground on Saturday night.

Gardaí and emergency services were alerted after a man in his late 40s was found unconscious with head injuries at a playground in Mac Uilliam estate in Tallaght at 11.40pm

He was taken to Tallaght Hospital and later transferred to Beaumont, where his condition is understood to be serious. The scene was preserved for a forensic examination.

No arrests have been made to date and enquires are ongoing.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses, in particular to those who were near the playground at Mac Uilliam estate on Saturday night to come forward.

They also want anyone with video footage – including dashcam – to make it available to them to investigators.
