CORK manager Kieran Kingston hailed his team after coming out the right side of a ‘season-defining’ Munster championship round-robin game against rivals Waterford.
He heaped praise on his players after they responded with Cork’s first win of the campaign, which means another win against Tipperary next Sunday could yet see them secure a top-three place in the group to extend their summer.
‘We’re obviously relieved, pleased,’ he said. ‘This was a backs-to-the-wall game. The stats speak for themselves – if we didn’t win today, we were out. I’m proud of the players, the attitude they brought and the performance that they gave.’
Asked to explain the difference from the previous two games and the two tame defeats against Limerick and Clare, he was at a loss.
‘If I could put my finger on that, I’d bottle it myself. But we trained well coming into this game but then we trained well coming into the Clare game as well and we didn’t transfer it for the first
