DETECTIVES are urgently seeking a man who left a document into a Garda station, addressed to murdered mother-of-two Lisa Thompson.

Ms Thompson’s body was discovered at her home in Sandyhill Gardens, Ballymun, Dublin on May 10.

The 52-year-old had been repeatedly stabbed.

Gardaí have now revealed that just two days after the incident, a man handed a document into Finglas Garda Station with the victim’s name and address on it.

In a statement, a Garda spokesman said: ‘On the morning of Thursday, May 12, 2022, at approximately 7.10am, a male handed a document in the name of the deceased Lisa Thompson to a Garda staff member at the front door of Finglas Garda Station and left on foot.

‘An Garda Síochána in Ballymun are appealing to this male to make urgent contact with the investigation team at Ballymun Garda station at 01 666 4400 or the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111,’ the Garda spokesman added.

Despite requests, gardaí would not provide further information about the document or confirm if it had CCTV footage of the man.

Investigating officers continue to examine Ms Thompson’s mobile phone, which they hope will clarify who she was in contact with in the days leading up to her murder. Gardaí have also gathered forensic evidence from the crime scene and have made dozens of door-todoor enquiries.

It is understood that local residents had seen two men fleeing from the mother’s home on Sunday morning.

However, the time of her death is not yet known.

There were no signs of a break-in or struggle, which supports the theory that Ms Thompson knew her killer. Neighbours told the Irish Daily Mail recently that she had become vulnerable in recent times and had battled with mental health difficulties.

Sources also suggest she had battled with an addiction over the past 12 months and ‘inadvertently associated with criminals known to gardaí’. However, there is no evidence Ms Thompson was involved in any way with crime.

The 52-year-old was socialising at her home with several people on Saturday night, which was when she was last seen alive.

A source said that the assailant may have fled through her back garden and over a wall.

‘The back door was left open when her body was discovered so it’s possible the killer may have fled out her garden to avoid being seen,’ the source added.

No potential suspect has been identified to date.

Superintendent Darren McCarthy said last week that Ms Thompson died sometime between Saturday and 3.30pm on Tuesday, when the alarm was raised. Indications from the crime scene suggest she was stabbed at least ten times.

Supt. McCarthy appealed for anyone with information on Ms Thompson’s movements from Saturday through to Tuesday to come forward.

It’s understood the mysterious man handed the document to a staff member, who is not a member of An Garda Síochána, and left without leaving his details.

Gardaí now believe the man may have information that could prove vital to their investigation.

A source told the Irish Daily Mail that the latest appeal is a sign that gardaí are no closer to making an arrest.

‘People here are frustrated that there is still no sign of anyone being arrested, but you can’t say the gardaí aren’t trying their best. They’re clearly trying to follow up every possible lead in the hopes that it will lead to the killer or killers being brought to justice,’ the source said.

Gardaí also say they are not aware of any threats that had been made against Ms Thompson or that her life was in danger in any way.

Her 13-year-old son and 12-yearold daughter were not present at the time that their mother’s body was found.

It’s understood they were at a local youth centre with their father upon learning the news.

An incident room has been established at Ballymun Garda Station and a liaison officer has been appointed to help the victim’s family.

Superintendent McCarthy said of Lisa recently: ‘Lisa was a 52year-old woman. She was well known in her local community, which is shocked over the violent and traumatic death.

‘I would like to thank the community for the cooperation and assistance received so far and information received from across the community.’

Time of death is not yet known ‘There is still no sign of any arrests’
