- Irish Daily Mail Reporter

THE National Lottery has confirmed the winner of the €8.5million jackpot has begun the process of claiming their life-changing prize.

The Kilkenny winner bought their Quick Pick ticket, which is worth €8,508,720, at Blanchfield’s Centra store on the Main Street in Mooncoin on May 7.

The jackpot win marked the second winning jackpot ticket that Blanchfield’s Centra has sold.

Just over two years ago, in December 2019, the lucky Mooncoin store sold a ticket worth over €6.8million.

A National Lottery spokesman said: ‘It was a memorable Monday in National Lottery Headquarters. We were delighted to get the call from the fourth jackpot winner of the year who won their €8.5million prize just over a week ago.

‘Ireland’s newest millionaire now joins an enviable list of the biggest National Lottery winners of 2022.

‘So far this year, we have seen 18 National Lottery millionaires across our draw-based games.

‘And we are now making arrangements for the Kilkenny jackpot winner to claim their life-changing prize.’
