REACH FOR THE MOON,

- SAM TURNER

a one-time Derby contender owned by Queen Elizabeth, made an encouraging return to action in the Heron Stakes at Sandown last night. An early-season setback meant the John Gosden-trained colt was forced to sidestep a date at Epsom, but he remains on course for Royal Ascot after running well to finish second to impressive winner My Prospero at the Esher venue. ‘We were delighted. He enjoyed himself, it wasn’t the intention to make the running but Frankie Dettori let him bowl along. He’s very clear the step up in trip is what he needs,’ reported Gosden following the race. ‘He seemed great afterwards and there’s two races to look at — the King Edward and the Hampton Court.’
