A memoir depicting a crazy, seedy romance? Amber should buy a copy

-

AS SHE continues to fight for her reputation in the court of public opinion, Amber Heard suggests that the reason she is the only woman to accuse Johnny Depp of domestic violence is that they are all too scared to accuse him in public.

Perhaps the truth is that Depp’s former partners know the difference between domestic violence and the messy dramas and debauchery that occur among drunken, druggie couples.

Pete Doherty’s new memoir A Likely Lad, whitewashed admittedly by Kate Moss’s lawyers, gives an insight into her seedy romance with the drugaddled musician, which occurred some years after she and Johnny Depp parted ways.

Their crazy escapades include ditching their car over the side of a mountain in Ibiza, getting his’n’her tattoos after their first night together and jealous Doherty regularly brawling with men who he thought were his love rivals.

The couple decided against a church wedding after the vicar suggested that Doherty was ‘a little unsettled’ opting instead for a ceremony on a Thai beach, during which a snake was wrapped around both their necks as they pledged undying love. The nuptials ended in horror though with Doherty arrested and him greeting Moss with a flying kick when she came to bail him out.

In their final showdown before they split, Kate smashed her lover’s 1930s Gibson guitar and covered his teddy bear Pandy in petrol and set him alight.

Whatever about domestic violence, it certainly seems that the course of celebrity true love is marked by chaos, wild excess and pathetically infantile behaviour when drugs and alcohol are involved. Amber Heard should take note.
