Jedward: Big brother needs... us brothers!

SINGING duo Jedward have offered to host the new series of Big Brother, after it was announced that the infamous reality TV show will be returning in 2023.

Talking to the Irish Daily Mail, the identical twins, who are 29, said they should get a shot because ‘people are sick of seeing the same faces hosting every show’.

The reality TV juggernaut aired on Channel 4 from 2000 to 2010 and was hosted by Davina McCall, 54, before it moved to Channel 5 until 2018.

Emma Willis, 46, previously hosted the show on Channel 5 while Rylan Clark, 33, presented its spin-off and Celebrity Big Brother.

Jedward, comprising John and Edward Grimes, appeared on the celebrity version of the show in 2011 and 2017 and described themselves as ‘iconic housemates’. They said: ‘We got to the final twice! We’re super-excited there’s a new reboot of Big Brother and there should be new hosts.

‘We are this generation’s household names and are ready to spread our wings in TV hosting. People are sick of seeing the same faces on every show hosting!

‘We don’t need earpieces or scripts to be funny or present. We have done so many reality shows we know exactly what the housemates are feeling! We are more than capable to host the main show. Representing your audience is key and we have proven ourselves for over 13 years!’

The Dublin siblings first appeared on Celebrity Big Brother 8, which was won by Paddy Doherty and saw Kerry Katona finish as runner-up.

They later returned to the house for Celebrity Big Brother 19 as All-Stars, finishing as runners-up to Loose Women’s Coleen Nolan.

Big Brother will return in 2023 on ITV2 and new streaming platform ITVX, with its famous house featuring a ‘contemporary new look’.

A cast of ‘carefully selected housemates from all walks of life’ will live together for up to six weeks as the public watch on via surveillance cameras.

The show’s trademark live evictions will also return with the public once again voting throughout the series and ultimately deciding the winner.

It is not clear if the celebrity version will also return.

Paul Mortimer, director of reality commissioning and acquisitions and controller of ITV2, ITVBe and CITV, said: ‘This refreshed, contemporary new series of Big Brother will contain all the familiar format points that kept viewers engaged and entertained the first time round, but with a brand new look and some additional twists that speak to today’s audience.’
