Government is to blame for the impending power losses

-

THE forecast of power blackouts this winter has nothing to do with the Covid or Ukraine crises; it has to do with this Government turning a blind eye to the warnings and advice to buy emergency stock to cover energy needed for this winter. We pensioners are hit with more hardship as this Government ignores us.

When power cuts happen where I live, it is not just the power that goes out, I also lose the water supply. This happens because builders were left to do what they liked and assessed their own work when building the houses in 2004.

It is guaranteed this Government will let things get worse as they do not care how we are suffering as long as they are OK. The sooner they are gone the better.

Pay gap widening

SO unions are to debate whether to accept a 6.5% pay increase for overpaid, underworked, pampered public-sector workers.

Only last week the High Court put a halt to a measly increase for 16,000 security personnel. This just highlights the ever-growing gap in wages and the utter contempt this Government has for those on low pay.

Plus-size matters

WE all know the limited offering on the plus-size market needs improving, and Victoria Beckham now designing for plus-size women is a step in the right direction.

However, there is a long way to go to amend the broader luxury differential between representation on the catwalk shows and plus-size clothing in stores. It will be a healthy, positive thing to see more than one version of the human body represented.

Mouthy Meghan

MEGHAN Markle says she is healing in her latest magazine interview. I hope she finally finds some measure of contentment. A word to the wise: if you really want to recover, a sensible start would be a little self-containment. In other words, live your life, accept the status quo, stop courting the media and develop an interest.

You need to stop worrying about others, especially those to whom you have attached yourself, as they will survive without your interest. For whatever reason, Meghan was not inclined to fit into the British royal family. We all choose our own path in life.

To enhance the healing process, she should refrain from casting the royal family in a negative light and concentrate on her own family. Keep things simple, which is always preferable. I wish Meghan well.

... BOMBSHELL revelations? Damp squib more like.

Perhaps Meghan is running out of vitriol to spill. It’s all getting a bit stale.

If Prince Harry has a beef with the royal family, why isn’t he allowed to air it himself?

R. B. CHAPPELL, by email.

... GIVEN Meghan’s claim that she wishes to protect her family from media intrusion, she seems remarkably ready to bare her soul to the highest bidder.

... THE only talent the Sussexes have to earn a living, is to sell their distorted stories of the British royal family. Americans will tire of this eventually – then what? Have they any idea what they can do to keep themselves and their children in the lifestyle they chose? They built their lives on quicksand.

NAME AND ADDRESS SUPPLIED.

... AS MEGHAN’S stock drops, so her vitriol and ‘remembrances’ increase. Without her links to the British royal family, she has nothing to contribute.
