GUESS WHAT GUYS ... I’M BRINGING BONO TO MY DEBS!

- By Dolly Busby

TEENAGER Lucie Dunne always expected her Debs to be a great day – but it took a rock icon to make it a Beautiful Day.

‘Bringing Bono to the debs’ was the text Lucie, 18, sent to her pals after she was pictured with the superstar who she met on her way to the ball.

The Northsider kindly took time out from filming in his old family home for a dance and a few words of advice for the debutante and neighbours.

Bono was visiting 10 Cedarwood Road, his childhood home, to film a documentary segment to accompany his memoir, which is released in November. Ms Dunne was leaving for her dance at Bridge House Hotel in Tullamore when she spotted the With or Without You singer on the road outside her house.

Uncle Trevor Dunne said: ‘The next minute, we saw Bono down the road and thought it would be gas to get a picture with him.’ A friend of the Dunne family, who happened to be part of Bono’s entourage, said: ‘Is it seriously Lucie’s debs? Bono will love that!’

After he was told, the U2 front man went over to the debutante, twirled her around and said: ‘Wow, the debutante, you look beautiful. I’m in the presence of royalty.’

Ms Dunne snapped a picture with him and sent it to her friends with the caption ‘I’m bringing Bono to the debs’.

The singer had everyone laughing when he joked: ‘I’ll take you to the Debs!’ By then, a crowd of up to 30 spectators had gathered, stopping the traffic.

Trevor said: ‘He was really very kind, he gave time to everyone and stayed for around 15 to 20 minutes shaking hands and taking pictures. He wished everyone well and thanked them.’

Ms Dunne chatted with the singer and told him she attended St Mary’s Holy Faith Convent which he knew very well from his youth.

Bono imparted some fatherly words of wisdom such as ‘Don’t stay out too late’ and joked, ‘Watch out for those lads!’

But the teen debutante didn’t take his advice about getting home at a reasonable hour. She reportedly got home in the early hours of yesterday morning.

Ms Dunne was the belle of the ball as she and the picture had gone viral among her peers by the time she arrived.
