NATIONAL PLOUGHING CHAMPIONSHIPS FACTS & FIGURES

◼It’s the 91st National Ploughing Championships and the 67th World Ploughing Contest.

◼It’s Europe’s largest outdoor event.

◼Around 300,000 visitors are expected over the three days.

◼There are 1,700 exhibitors.

◼26 international teams from all over the globe will compete in the World Ploughing Championships.

◼37km of metal roadway has been laid throughout the site.

◼Over 1,000 quality livestock will be brought on site — to feed them it will require 300 round bales of straw, 100 bales of hay and 7 tonnes of meal.

■ At the last championships, one Irish-produced quarter pounder burger was sold every second, while one chicken fillet burger was purchased every 10 seconds.

■ On average, 70,000 cups of tea and coffee were consumed each day.

■ 16 tonne of prime Irish beef and three tonne of locally sourced pork was consumed.

■ 5 tonne of Irish-sourced soft fruit was used during the event.

■ 14 acres of Irish potatoes were grown to supply the event.

■ 40,000 breakfasts and breakfast rolls were sold each day.
