Victoria’s secret is out... she said yes!
WEDDING bells are set to ring for Victoria Smurfit, who said yes when her beau Steve Jacob popped the question – even though she thought he was ‘taking the mick’.
The Ballykissangel actress, 48, has traditionally kept her relationship with businessman Mr Jacob out of the spotlight, but couldn’t resist sharing a picture of her brand new engagement ring on social media.
The snap was taken in front of a sign that read: ‘A good man can make you feel sexy and strong, able to take on the world. Oh sorry... that’s wine. Wine does that.’
A second image on Instagram showed the actress and her future hubby posing for a selfie, with Ms Smurfit planting a big kiss on his cheek.
She captioned the image: ‘If you know #Himself you’ll understand why I assumed he was taking the mick. He wasn’t. Said YES. A lot. Maybe too many times. Have to retire this sign now… very happy Smurf. #himself is a keeper.’
Since splitting with Douglas Baxter, her husband of 15 years with whom she had three children, in 2015, Ms Smurfit has dated filmmaker Alistair Ramsden and successful businessman Lance Uggla.
She and Mr Jacob went public with their romance in 2021, at the premiere of her film Deadly Cuts in Dublin.
Friends and fans were quick to wish the happy couple well. RTÉ presenter Miriam O’Callaghan wrote: ‘That’s just the best news Victoria – thrilled for you both. Sometimes in this crazy world, good things happen to good people.’ And Ms Smurfit’s Once Upon A Time co-star Colin O’Donoghue wrote: ‘Congratulations!’
