‘Gone too young’: First Dates star dead at 29
JORDAN Dunbar, known for appearances on First Dates Ireland and My Yellow Brick Road, has died aged 29.
The Dubliner was one of the contestants on the first series of the popular Irish dating show and made a significant impression on viewers.
Jordan, who worked in a number of hair salons around the capital, later went on to be a part of the makeover series My Yellow Brick Road, which aired in 2019.
His family confirmed his funeral plans will be finalised today. They wrote on Rip.ie: ‘He is predeceased by his loving mam Sharon and uncle Michael.
‘He will be sadly missed by his loving dad Albert and Albert’s brother and sisters, aunt Michelle, cousin Craig, his second family Gerry, Leeanne and Maria Nolan, his close friends Geena and Megan, relatives and a large circle of friends. May Jordan Rest In Peace.’
RTÉ also released a statement on Jordan’s passing, saying: ‘We are very sad to hear of the death of Jordan Dunbar. Jordan featured on First Dates Ireland and was also a presenter on the series My Yellow Brick Road.
‘A wonderful talent, gone far too young. Our deepest sympathies to his loved ones.’
TV production company Coco Television, which produces First Dates Ireland, said: ‘Our hearts our broken with the death of Jordan Dunbar, such a talented and beautiful person.
‘We first met him on First Dates and he went on to present My Yellow Brick Road on RTÉ. He was a joy to work with and it was a privilege to know him. Deepest sympathy to all who loved him.’
Several Twitter users paid tribute to Jordan, with one writing: ‘I remember him from my old hairdressers, he was always a nice guy to chat to. My deepest condolences to his family.’
Another user said: ‘So sorry to hear this, I met Jordan several times and he was always nice and had an infectious joy.’
Another user added: ‘Heartbreaking to hear the news of Jordan Dunbar. He was a beautiful person within the LGBT community. May he’s may his soul rest in peace.’
And another wrote: ‘He is such a lovely, genuine person. Rest in peace Jordo.’
