Paul shows family around Hollywood
WHEN he received his first Oscar nomination this year his family were the first ones to congratulate him.
And the Mescal family were out in force as they partied with Paul ahead of the Academy Awards on Sunday.
Paul Mescal, 27, was supported by younger siblings, brother Donnacha and sister Nell, 19, after jetting to Los Angeles.
With just days to go before the ceremony, the group spent Wednesday night rubbing shoulders with the stars at Vanity Fair’s A Night for Young Hollywood bash. The annual soiree was held at Mes Amis, a swanky destination that ‘draws inspiration from the golden era of Hollywood.’
Paul looked typically dapper as he sported a black suit jacket layered over a vest and trousers featuring sash detailing.
Donnacha opted for a checked shirt while singer Nell glammed up in a baby blue tulle dress.
The Mescal siblings were not joined by their supportive parents – father, also Paul, a teacher and part-time actor and mother Dearbhla, who works for An Garda Síochána – but they have also flown to Los Angeles for the ceremony.
Donnacha is currently living in New York and works in HR while Nell has enjoyed a taste of the spotlight with her music career.
Nell, living in Haringey, North London, has released three singles and has a management deal with American firm Q Prime, which looks after Metallica, Muse and Foals, as well as being signed with Manchester indie label LAB Records.
After Paul was nominated for a Best Actor Oscar for his role in Aftersun, she found herself further thrust into the spotlight as fans on Twitter suddenly discovered her music, and comments quickly flooded in along the lines of ‘realising Paul Mescal might not be the most talented member of his family’.
