Size isn’t everything! Ireland’s tiniest home on the market for €25k

- By Philip Downes

THEY say good things come in small packages... but if this is your dream home, you’d wake up after 40 winks!

The tiny house, described as the ‘cheapest and smallest in Ireland’, has hit the market for just €25,000.

The property in East Mall in the village of Glin, Co. Limerick, is in need of significant refurbishment – which at least shouldn’t take long.

Last lived in over five years ago, the house consists of a living space and bedroom, a bathroom and, well... that’s it. The listing describes it as a ‘charming property’ that ‘offers great potential’.

It adds: ‘There is no yard or outside space with this property. The residence is 16ft wide by 22ft deep. Water, sewer and electricity are connected. The property was last lived in approximately five years ago.’

The home was posted on TikTok by estate agent Patrick O’Donovan, and has divided online opinion, with some people saying that it’s more of a room than a house.

One online commenter remarked that ‘it looks like the front of a shop from the 50s or 60s’.

Nevertheless, the property appears to have been snapped up quickly, with the listing now showing that a sale has been agreed.

And given the dire state of the property market, many people thought it was good value for money.

One person said: ‘This could be a cute studio. [I don’t know] how people have the nerve to complain when it’s 25k. That’s beyond cheap. In Dublin it would be €120k.’ Another said: ‘Can we get more houses like these around the country please?’

Perhaps we should be thankful for small mercies...
