PS, I LIVED HERE: CECELIA’S OLD HOUSE ON SALE FOR €2M

- By Chloe O’Keeffe and Helen Bruce

THERE’S a new multimillioneuro home on the market and PS – it once belonged to bestselling author Cecelia Ahern.

The four-bedroom detached family residence in Malahide, north Dublin, has gone on sale with an asking price of €2million.

No18 is tucked away in a small and quiet cul-de-sac at Abbotts Hill, a well-heeled estate just off the Coast Road and a five minute walk from the village.

There are only 73 properties for sale in Malahide at present, and 24 of them have a price-tag in excess of €1million.

25million copies of Cecelia’s novels have been sold since 2002

The plush house at No18 is the former home of the renowned author and daughter of former taoiseach Bertie Ahern, who bought it off the plans in 2002 and lived there for almost a decade.

It was here that Ms Ahern wrote most of her best-selling books.

Twenty years on from the debut novel that took the world by storm, PS, I Love You, Ms Ahern appeared this week on the podcast series The Bookshelf with broadcaster Ryan Tubridy.

She told him that PS, I Love You ‘completely’ changed her life.

The book has since sold six million copies, and she has now sold a total of 25 million copies of her 19 novels worldwide, as well as having two film adaptations. So not surprisingly, the interior of the home in Malahide is finished to an extremely high standard throughout.

The entrance hall is particularly impressive, with a wrought-iron staircase and a gallery landing overhead. From the entrance, double doors lead to a large dining room with a hardwood floor and a large picture window overlooking the garden and allowing plenty of natural light in.

The kitchen has double doors leading out to the patio and garden. Upstairs are four large bedrooms one with ensuite and walk-in wardrobe.

The development is the work of Gem Construction Ltd.
