DOPESICK, DISNEY+

THIS eight-parter takes viewers to the epicentre of America’s struggle with opioid addiction, from the boardrooms of Purdue Pharma, to a distressed Virginia mining community, to the hallways of the DEA. It has some seriously great acting. Michael Keaton (pictured with Will Poulter and Kaitlyn Dever) — who won an Emmy for his performance — plays a doctor who prescribes the horrendously addictive painkiller OxyContin after being led to believe it is safe. Michael Stuhlbarg is Richard Sackler, the billionaire businessman who drove the drug’s creation, and is part of the family whose name has been removed from so many art galleries in the years since. Both believe they’re doing the right thing and, in Sackler’s case, that’s fascinating because the most interesting bad guys are those who believe they have the moral high ground. And for more on the horror of America’s opioid crisis, seek out the drama Painkiller (with Matthew Broderick as Sackler) and the movie Pain Hustlers.

FILM DRAMA The Lesson, 10.30am/ 9pm, Sky Premiere

NEWCOMER Daryl McCormack (whom Peaky Blinders fans might recognise as gang member Isaiah Jesus) holds his own against veterans Julie Delpy and Richard E Grant. He’s the young tutor who becomes ensnared in a web of family secrets and lies when he’s hired to teach the son of his reclusive, cranky literary idol.

CAR SHOW Wheeler Dealers World Tour, Discovery+

MIKE BREWER and his mechanic buddy Marc ‘Elvis’ Priestley (pictured) must have exhausted the stocks of under-appreciated old bangers in the UK because this new show follows them as they head around the world to find beat-up motors to revamp and then sell on for a profit. If you’ve never seen Wheeler Dealers before, imagine a chirpy cross between The Repair Shop and Only Fools And Horses, with South London car dealer Mike in the role of Del. This week’s opening episode finds them in northern Italy, where they take on a Ferrari 348 whose V8 engine isn’t purring like it should.

TREASURE HUNT The Lost U-Boats Of WWII, 9pm, Sky History

FOR this new real-life series, wreck recovery specialist Darrell Miklos is on the trail of a sunken U-boat that he believes was hauling Nazi treasure. If you enjoy The Curse Of Oak Island et al, this is a speedier version of that.
