Could Mick become a dad for the NINTH time... at 80?
YOU might imagine that, aged 80, with eight children, Rolling Stones front man Mick Jagger’s baby daddy days were over.
However friends of his fiancee Melanie Hamrick say that she is keen on having another child with Mick — which would be his ninth.
A source says: ‘Melanie loves Mick and says he is an absolutely wonderful father. Nobody would be surprised if there was an announcement.’ Apparently the couple are enjoying raising Deveraux (known as Devi) together and think he would enjoy a sibling — if fate allows.
Mick’s currently on stage with the Stones touring the U.S., and Melanie, 37, and Devi, seven, are with him. The Hackney Diamonds ’24 tour reaches Las Vegas tomorrow and concludes in California in July.
In an interview last year Mick did admit to just a touch of weariness with baby-raising, saying: ‘You get a bit out of practice — it’s not like riding a bike.’
Deveraux, born in 2016, is 17 years younger than Mick’s next youngest child, Lucas, born with model Luciana Giminez.
Jagger added: ‘It depends on the child. They have their own personalities and you can mould them to a certain extent, but you see their likes and dislikes and encourage them to do things they gravitate towards. It’s fun to have children, at any age. But if you’re working and always away, you don’t get to enjoy it as much.’
In December last year Hamrick, 37, shared photos of herself with Jagger and Deveraux on Instagram to celebrate their son’s birthday. She wrote: ‘December 8th !!!!!!! Happy Birthday sweet, energetic, silly, smart, wild and beautiful Devi! I can’t believe you’re 7 !!! We love you more than anything! You truly are my sunshine.’
Jagger has been with former ballet dancer Hamrick since 2014 and the pair are engaged, although nobody expects Mick to pirouette up the aisle as he is marriage-averse.
He’s been legally wed just once — to Bianca. The long union with model Jerry Hall was often described as a marriage but actually the ceremony which they underwent on a beach in Bali had no legal status.
BUT she and Mick remain on excellent terms, all the more so since the end of her marriage to media titan Rupert Murdoch — and she also gets on well with Hamrick. His newest romance is settled and happy and sources say she is a perfect companion for Mick, and never makes waves in the complex family set-up.
Last year she released a ballet bonkbuster book, First Position, which was published by Mills & Boon. Her second erotic novel, The Unravelling, also set in the world of dance, will be out in August.
Jagger’s children are: Karis, 53 (by Marsha Hunt); Jade, 52 (by Bianca Jagger); Lizzie, 40, James, 38, Georgia May, 32, and Gabriel, 26 (by Jerry Hall); Lucas, 24, and Deveraux.
