CELEBS WHO’VE TAKEN OZEMPIC TO BEAT THE BULGE

-

OZEMPIC has become popular among the rich and famous as a means of controlling their weight. Here are a few who have spoken openly about taking the drug:

JEREMY CLARKSON

The former Top Gear host, 62, claimed Ozempic was already having a ‘tremendous’ effect on his appetite and weight loss earlier this year. He wrote: ‘I can open the fridge, where there’s half a chicken and a juicy bottle of rosé, and I want neither. Of course, I’ll have to insert some balance in the future, or I’ll, you know, die. But for now it’s tremendous.’

Explaining why he is taking the jab, he said: ‘The real reason is that I drink far too much wine, I eat far too many slabs of Cadbury Fruit & Nut chocolate and I drink a litre of milk before going to bed every night. Unless there’s a beer in the fridge.’

REBEL WILSON

The Australian actress shed 80lb in four years, losing most of the excess in 2020, calling it her ‘year of health’, and putting it down to healthy eating and exercise.

However while promoting her memoir, Rebel Rising, she admitted to using Ozempic. The Pitch Perfect star, 44, said she used the drug briefly after she had lost weight, to help maintain her new shape.

She also told The Sunday Times: ‘Someone like me could have a bottomless appetite for sweets, so I think those drugs can be good.’

OPRAH WINFREY

In December, chat show host Winfrey – who gave up her job as an ambassador for WeightWatchers –admitted to using ‘weight-loss medication’, telling People magazine: ‘The fact that there’s a medically approved prescription for managing weight and staying healthier, in my lifetime, feels like relief, like redemption, like a gift, and not something to hide behind and once again be ridiculed for.’

ELON MUSK

In 2022, the billionaire took to Twitter to boast that he had dropped 30lb. When asked what his secret was, the then 50-year-old replied: ‘Fasting + Ozempic/Wegovy + no tasty food near me.’

SHARON OSBOURNE

When she appeared on this year’s Celebrity Big Brother, viewers were shocked by her frail appearance. After trying a gastric band, the 71-year-old admitted that her tiny seven stone frame is down to Ozempic. She told the Mail: ‘Last December, I resorted to injecting myself with Ozempic... I lost 42lb — that’s 3st — but it was too much. Now, I weigh just over 7st. I need to put on 10lb but, however much I eat, I stay the same weight.’

BORIS JOHNSON

The former British prime minister also admitted to taking the drug. He wrote in the Mail: ‘It’s a cinch, said the doctor. All you need to do is inject a tiny dose of clear Ozempic fluid into your abdomen, once a week, and hey presto — no more raiding the fridge at 11.30pm for the cheddar and chorizo washed down with half a bottle of wine.’ But he also wrote of the side effects, and added: ‘For now I am back to exercise and willpower.’
