PLAYTIME FOR BRIDGET JONES’S BABIES... EIGHT YEARS ON

- By Katie Hind

A SENSIBLE cardigan, serene expression, and two young children in tow... this surely cannot be the Chardonnay-swigging, cigarette-smoking Bridget Jones.

But it seems, eight years since the last movie, our hapless heroine is all grown up – now a mother playing happily in the park with her son and daughter.

The star of the film series, Renée Zellweger, 55, was seen filming the fourth and final movie, Mad About The Boy, in a London park, dressed down in a pair of Mom jeans, shirt and cardi.

Onlookers said that when the cameras stopped rolling, Ms Zellweger was seen

‘She couldn’t have been more lovely’

‘mucking about’ with the young actors. One told the Mail: ‘Renée couldn’t have been more lovely with the kids. She was playing with them, having a right laugh, and making them laugh.’

At the end of the last film, Bridget marries long-time love interest Mark Darcy, with whom she has a baby son, William. But at the beginning of the upcoming movie, viewers will learn that Mark is dead, though Colin Firth – who portrays him – will appear in the film.

Bridget, who has moved out of her famous bachelorette flat in London’s Borough Market, now lives in the leafy London enclave of Hampstead. She will be part of a love triangle involving Chiwetel Ejiofor, who plays her son’s PE teacher, Hugh Grant’s roguish Daniel Cleaver and a much younger man played by One Day heartthrob Leo Woodall. She takes up Zumba – as is clear from her svelte physique – though her obsession with losing weight will be ‘played down’ after suggestions that she might be a ‘toxic’ influence.
