Leading India politician dies

ONE of India’s most influential politicians J Jayalalitha has died at 68.

The Tamil Nadu state’s chief minister passed away at Chennai’s Apollo Hospital yesterday after suffering a heart attack.

There are fears of unrest given the extreme devotion the former film star inspired among her supporters.
