COUNTRY star Nathan Carter will headline a new festival over two locations next year.

Aiken Promotions yesterday announced plans for Harvest 2017 at Westport House in Co Mayo and Enniskillen Airport, Co Fermanagh.

Carter and country superstar Miranda Lambert will top the bill at the two-day bash on August 26 and 27.

Homegrown talent including Cliona Hagan, Pete Kennedy and Hurricane Highway have also been added with more artists to be announced over the coming weeks.

Promoters say there will be a food village, boutique camping and campervan facilities including family friendly zones.

Tickets go on sale next Monday at 9am from Ticketmaster. THE three young men who died in the horrific fireball road smash were friends out for a morning drive.

Last night, anxious families were waiting for confirmation their loved ones perished in the Volkswagen Golf that exploded on impact near Dungarvan, Co Waterford, on Sunday morning.

One of the victims was named locally last night as Eamon Dixon. Such was the intense heat it has been impossible to identify the bodies as all clothing and personal items were destroyed.

Gardai and rescue services didn’t realise a third body was in the back seat of the gutted car.

Postmortems were being carried out on the bodies yesterday where it was hoped their identity could be confirmed through dental records.

It is understood the pals, who were from the Dungarvan and Cappoquin areas of Waterford, went out for an early-morning spin on Sunday when their car collided with a people carrier.

The family of one of the suspected victims yesterday told the Irish Mirror his death had not been confirmed.

A man who came to the door of his home said: “The guards have not been able to formally identify anything yet.

“We just don’t know. There’s a woman in there who doesn’t know if her son is alive or dead.”

It is believed that those who died were in their late teens and early 20s.

A local man said he believed the driver was leaving his pal home to Cappoquin.

Gardai had the harrowing task of trying to establish what were human remains or incinerated car parts.

To add to the confusion as to the identity of those who died, it has emerged the Golf had been sold by its previous owner but had not been registered by the new one.

Meanwhile, the couple whose family were in the other vehicle are all expected to survive after suffering injuries. Mary Bermingham, 37, from Banteer in Co Cork, and 35-year-old Naval Service mechanic Gary Fenton, from Cobh, were hurt along with four children aged between six and 14.

They were airlifted to hospital after the crash on Military Road around 3km from Dungarvan, before 10am on Sunday.

A source said: “All those were sent to Cork University hospital have all undergone major surgery but have all come through and are now in ICU.” A boy who was in the people carrier was released from hospital yesterday morning.

The Golf is believed to have gone over a hump-backed bridge at speed, lost control and hit the oncoming people carrier.

Luckily the Citroen did not become imbedded in the Golf or it too could have been consumed by the flames, trapping all those inside.

Local parish priest Fr Michael Kennedy said he gave the deceased the last rites.

He told RTE News: “I went down and it was a very sad scene.

“I was there to give spiritual assistance and I anointed them. It’s a very sad scene around Christmas, what is usually a tranquil scene in our little parish.

“My prayers and good wishes go to them, may God keep them all in His care.”

Gardai in Waterford are appealing for witnesses after the crash, which occurred on a raised area of road on the N72 between the junctions with the N25 and the R672.
