World first in cancer fight

-

A RESEARCH centre is to embark on a world first trial for cancer treatment.

The pilot project aims to improve outcomes for people suffering from malignant melanoma.

Around 630 people are diagnosed with the disease and it claims 110 lives in Ireland every year.

The pioneering treatment opens up cancer cells with electrical pulses to make immunotherapy treatment even more effective, allowing the patient’s immune system to fight back.
