Regiments in online march

RECORDS of nearly 12,000 troops from five regiments disbanded almost 100 years ago have gone online.

The National Army Museum has digitised enlistment books of the Royal Irish Regiment, the Connaught Rangers, the Leinster Regiment, the Royal Munster Fusiliers and the Royal Dublin Fusiliers.

The museum’s Alastair Massie said: “When you consider half of First World War records were destroyed in the Blitz, these books take on even more significance.”
