Alcohol risks heart health
A PINT of beer or a glass of wine can raise your risk of irregular heartbeats, a study warned yesterday.
A review of more than 100 studies found every extra drink increased the chance of atrial fibrillation – which can cause strokes – by 8%.
Senior cardiac nurse Christopher Allen said: “Any small benefits there could be from drinking alcohol are far outweighed by the risks.
“Drinking too much could lead to irregular heart rhythms and also liver failure, high blood pressure and stroke.”
