Christmas in prison will come as relief for Corrie’s Samia

It was hard not to think of pots and kettles when Tracy Barlow delivered her withering verdict on Maria Connor in last night’s She did have a point though.

With some of the scripts that have been tossed Samia’s way over the past couple of years I’m guessing she adopted Mary’s motto “hope for the best, prepare for the worst” long ago. I’m not sure when I realised the writers had run out of things to do with Maria but I think it might have been around the time she tried to get back with Tyrone.

A little time off might give everyone involved an opportunit­y to refocus and, hopefully, bring Maria back as less of a laughing stock.

Her suffering isn’t quite over yet, though. She’s about to get caught up in a love triangle with Aidan, left, and Adam – two grunting blokes who always look like they’re on their way back from a day spent modelling a full autumnal range of cashmere overcoats.

That prison cell must be looking more appealing by the day.
