€35k for Zulu battle medal
A MEDAL awarded to a hero of Rorke’s Drift, the battle immortalised in 1964 film Zulu, is set to sell for €35,000.
Pte Michael Minehan was one of 150 British soldiers who took on 4,000 warriors in 1879.
He shot at the Zulu attackers then fought handto-hand with his bayonet.
Next day he could not speak through exhaustion.
The South Africa 1877-79 Medal is on sale in Mayfair, West London, on Thursday.
Auctioneer Nimrod Dix said: “Minehan was the sort of man every officer wants.”
