Space firm ‘to offer lunar trips by 2026’... at €9,500 per ticket

- BY ABIGAIL O’LEARY

HOLIDAY flights to the moon could be possible within 10 years – though the price of €9,500 per ticket might have you seeing stars.

Moon Express hopes to send people into space for a honeymoon with a difference from 2026.

It takes three days to get there but boss Naveen Jain reckons it will be no more strenuous than flying to Australia.

It is the only private firm to get permission under US law to leave Earth and land on the moon, and is teaming up with another private firm, Spacex, which will provide the rocket that takes the Moon Express rover to the surface.

Mr Jain said: “Essentially, they lay the cables and we do the last mile.”

Meanwhile, Richard Branson’s Virgin Galactic, which plans to offer commercial space travel, completed a successful test flight at the weekend.

It comes two years after the test flight crash in which one of its co-pilots was killed.
