New clues in hunt for the ‘Oz Maddie’
POLICE have new information on the disappearance of a three-year-old English girl from an Australian beach 46 years ago.
They believe the man who abducted Cheryl Grimmer in 1970 may still be alive.
The investigation has echoes of the Madeleine Mccann case. She vanished aged three in Praia da Luz, Portugal, in 2007.
The Australia manhunt focuses on accounts of a teenager seen running from showers at Fairy Meadow beach in North Wollongong, New South Wales. He would now be in his 60s.
Police say they have had “promising results” after taking witnesses from 1970 back to the resort.
Cheryl was staying at a beach hostel with mum Carole, dad John and two brothers after emigrating to Australia in 1969.
