Reminder on deadline for tax refunds

REVENUE is encouraging people to claim tax back before a December 31 deadline.

Many PAYE workers can claim, for example on health expenses and nursing home or tuition fees, only within a four-year time limit.

Last October Revenue wrote to more than 137,000 workers who have not applied for any refunds in the last four years and refunded over €444million in 2015.

It said: “Now is a good time to check your records and make sure you have claimed all your entitlements, before the 31 December deadline passes.

“Most online refund claims are paid within five working days.”
