Giving birth was ‘big trip’ for Paloma
SINGER Paloma Faith has given birth to her first child – but is keeping the gender and name secret.
The 35-year-old posted a handwritten note on Instagram on Monday night, letting fans know her baby with French artist Leyman Lahcine had arrived safely after “a difficult labour” and emergency caesarian.
Praising NHS staff for their “unfaltering dedication”, the Only Love Can Hurt Like This singer said she was “over the moon, in love and delighted”.
She added: “What a trip! It was all with the help of some incredible doctors, midwives and nurses.
“I am humbled by the whole experience.
“I really believe the NHS to be one of the greatest achievements of this country, and it should be respected and protected.” IRELAND’S oldest ice skater is like “a child at Christmas” after his favourite rink opened for the festive season.
Michael Finnegan has got his skates on once again as he marks 10 years enjoying the pastime.
The 80-year-old from Cork said he couldn’t wait for the rink at Mahon Point to open for December as the city has never had a permanent facility.
The former marathon runner added: “I saw the rink coming to Cork and I wanted to try it. Ten years on I am part of a community I love – and enjoying every minute of it.“
Such is his dedication the rink’s owners have given him a lifetime free pass.
