AN EX-BBC host who denies sex offences on under-age boys admitted yesterday that one lad’s attentions left her feeling “flattered”. Radio presenter Julie Wadsworth, 60, saw the youth, 14, touching himself as he spied on her romping in woods with her husband Tony, 69, a court heard. The youngster was invited to join in the couple’s outdoor frolics in 1995, it is alleged. Mrs Wadsworth told a jury: “He was masturbating inside his trousers at the time I think. “We came together. My top was open, as Tony had been touching me. “The boy groped my bosom then I just finished off what he was doing. We didn’t talk at all. After that he left via the bushes.” She added: “I felt it was all flattering. He looked a young man of about 17 or 18 and he later confirmed that.” She said there were “no arrangements to meet again” following the outdoor tryst in Mancetter Park, near Atherstone, Warks. Mrs Wadsworth said she never had sex with the boy – because intercourse even with her partner “caused me pain”. However, she admitted having sexually touched the youngster. The alleged victim, now aged 37, claims that he had sex at least 15 times with her. He has testified in court that he had a threesome with the married couple – nicknamed the “Richard and Judy of local radio” – at their home. The veteran broadcaster was known as Julie Mayer when she worked for BBC Radio Leicester and BBC Radio WM, Birmingham. She said her arrest in December 2015 left her in a state of depression and contributed to her mother’s death last Christmas Day. “That is a day I shall never forget,” she went on. “As a result of the arrest I had to move my mother out of her house because of the publicity. “She was 83. It had an adverse effect on her and then at Christmas last year she died. “When I was arrested during the early hours of the morning by six policemen and then put in a cell for 12 hours, it hit me hard. I have been on medication for depression since.” Mr and Mrs Wadsworth are on trial at Warwick crown court charged with sex offences against youngsters. The couple, of Broughton Astley, Leics, deny five counts of outraging public decency. Mrs Wadsworth also pleads not guilty to 12 indecent assaults, while her husband denies 10. The trial continues.
