WOMEN from across the world have inundated Ron Sheppard with romantic overtures after he renewed his search for a ninth wife.

Britain’s most married man admitted he could not believe the flurry of interest from as far afield as the US, Vietnam, Ghana and Australia.

Ron, 69, added he will use his many impersonations to help him win over his next lover – even though he reckons the impressions are among the reasons why his latest fiancée packed her bags.

The dad said: “I would expect wife number nine shortly at this rate.

“I just can’t fathom what they see in me. Perhaps it’s all part and parcel of being internationally notorious.”

He said at least 10 women have contacted him looking for love since he declared himself back on the market this week after his fiancee, 29-year-old Cristel Lalec, ditched him and left the home they shared.

As he spoke at the council house yesterday his phone kept pinging, alerting him to more amorous messages from admirers.

Ron said: “It’s amazing – I have an avalanche of messages. Just wait until they see my Tinder. As soon as Cristel left I couldn’t move for messages of love from places like Ghana.

“Of course there is only so much Ron to go around and I am not getting any younger so maybe I need to be a bit more discerning this time round. Wife number nine has to be the one – even I couldn’t face a tenth.”

The ex-pontins bluecoat confessed Filipino national Cristel was certainly not a fan of his impersonations, particularly his take on comic Sir Norman Wisdom.

Ron said: “She hated that impression but I have so much more to give – I can do Frankie Howerd and Elvis.

“I can’t change who I am and that is the key to any relationship. You have to be true to who you are, so the impressions stay. I shall be practising them a lot now to make sure they’re all fine-tuned for my next relationship.

“Hopefully my next wife will have heard of them in the first place.”

Ron, who also impersonates the likes of Frank Spencer and Del Boy Trotter, added: “I’m always amazed at how much women laugh at me.

“I think I have laughed them all into bed. I just find it really easy to charm and entertain them.”

Ron first got married in 1966, to Margaret. The couple, who had three children, divorced after two years. The longest of Ron’s eight marriages lasted 13 years and the shortest was 10 months.

Retired Ron, who suffers from Parkinson’s disease, flew in Cristel from the Philippines last year in the hope they would wed and live a happy life.

They spent 12 months together in the town of Somerton, Somerset, until she walked out days after the

Home Office ruled she could no longer stay in the UK and would have to return to her homeland this month.

Ron, who believes she may have another man, was devastated when she packed her bags but, after the interest from across the globe, said: “Cristel who?

“That’s what I say.”
