WHY CITY HAVE COTT TO RING CHANGES NOW

- BY JAMES NURSEY

NEW Birmingham boss Steve Cotterill intends to ship out more players.

But he will be backed in January with funds to help struggling City out of trouble near the foot of the table.

Loanee Liam Walsh, 20, this week returned to Everton.

And the future of Brum’s other four loan players signed by previous manager Harry Redknapp – Cohen Bramall, Carl Jenkinson, Jeremie Boga and Sam Gallagher – is now in doubt.

Redknapp’s summer spending spree is understood to have caused a huge disparity between wages in the dressing room, fuelling resentment.

A new striker for goal-shy Birmingham is a priority after just eight goals in 16 games this term ahead of today’s visit of Cotterill’s old club Nottingham Forest.

City’s Far East owners Trillion Trophy Asia have pledged to invest fresh funds – especially after crocked striker Isaac Vassell was ruled out for the season.

Cotterill (above) admitted: “There will be more decisions to make like Liam’s.”

He won his first game in charge at home to Cardiff but has since picked up just one point from four games.

City’s players were booed off by fans who chanted, “You’re not fit to wear the shirt” in the 2-0 defeat at Barnsley (top). Cotterill added: “The international break has been useful. There has been a fair bit of confidence-building needed and we have regrouped.”
