FOREST FIND RIGHT BLEND FOR TEEN BEN

-

BEN BRERETON believes the blend of youth and experience at Nottingham Forest can turn a season of ups and downs into play-off glory.

Sub Brereton was among the youngsters to shine as Mark Warburton’s side got back to winning ways against Bolton.

His late strike proved decisive after Barrie Mckay, 22, and Joe Worrall, 20, set up Forest up for a victory to keep the Championship top six well within sight.

Mckay’s early opener and central defender Worrall’s first goal for the club were created by Tyler Walker, the 21-year-old son of former England star Des.

“We’ve six or seven young lads who do everything together, whether it’s out of football or in football,” said Brereton, 18.

“We blend well. That bond will only become greater, which is good for the future of the club. We’re a very tight squad where young players learn off the older ones, and older players learn off the young ones sometimes.”

Bolton paid for spurning openings when they were on top.

After Will Buckley levelled just before the break, the Trotters looked the more likely winners for a time early in the second half.

Worrall’s injury-time own goal gave them a glimmer of hope, but their winless league run on the road now stretches to 36 games.

“We had chances when we were on top, but didn’t take them,” said Buckley. “It’s such a shock, because we were dominating the game.”
