Woods search begins for Tina

- EXCLUSIVE BY NIALL O’CONNOR and CILLIAN O’BRIEN

GARDAI searching for missing Tina Satchwell have sealed off a 40-acre area of woods.

The 45-year-old vanished from her family home in Youghal, Co Cork, on March 24 last year with two suitcases but not her mobile phone.

The development comes after a new witness came forward to report suspicious behaviour at the time of her disappearance.

The Irish Mirror can exclusively reveal a man who came forward after an appeal reportedly said he saw a man leaving the wood near Castlemartyr in East Cork.

Tina’s husband Richard believes she was harmed.

A search of the woodlands is to begin this morning.

Garda will hold a press conference at Midleton Garda station in Co Cork today at 11.30am.

Last week the Irish Mirror revealed that investigators received a critical clue that could solve the disappearance.

Mr Satchwell reported his wife missing and told gardai he had not seen her in four days.

In a twist to the case, he told officers on July 9 he found two suitcases which looked similar to ones owned by his wife at a clothes bank in the Tesco car park in Youghal.

But DNA analysis showed they had no connection with the missing woman.

Mr Satchwell also appeared on RTE’S Prime Time and appealed for help.

Asked if he thought someone had attacked Tina he replied: “It does at this point, and for a long time, go through my head if I’m honest.

“But then I know Tina as a person. She isn’t a pushover.

“And to be honest if somebody tried to attack her she’d pick the nearest thing up and whack them with it.”

He also claimed Tina would not have ended her own life.

Mr Satchwell added: “I say the same as I said all along, anyone who knew Tina, she, in my opinion, she’s too much in love with herself.”
