MEGHAN Markle will officially be made an Anglican before she weds Prince Harry – out of respect for her new mother-in-law, the Queen.

Meghan, 36, is likely to be baptised and confirmed into the faith by the Archbishop of Canterbury in a private service at Kensington Palace.

The former Suits star went to a Catholic school, but was raised a Protestant.

Her reclusive father Thomas, who is expected to attend the service, is a member of the United States-based Episcopal church – a part of the worldwide Anglican Communion.

Meghan’s first husband, Trevor Engelson, was Jewish – but she did not take his faith when they wed.

The formal move is thought to be a gesture of respect to the Queen’s role as head of the Church of England.

A source said she was keen for Archbishop Justin Welby to conduct the baptism after forming a “close bond” during wedding preparations. He will also preside as she and Prince Harry make their marriage vows on May 19.

The baptism is expected to be the first time Meghan’s father meets his future son-in-law. It is thought her yoga teacher mum, Doria Radlan, is also coming from California for the service.

The Duchess of Cambridge took the same step before she wed William.

Meghan’s baptism, tipped to be as soon as this week, is to be held in Kensington Palace’s 19th century chapel.

Meghan reportedly met her closest pals at a luxury retreat yesterday for her hen party, ahead of the wedding at Windsor Castle in 11 weeks’ time.

Ex-made in Chelsea star Millie Mackintosh, 28, and fashion designer Misha Nonoo, 31, were said to be there – but seven months pregnant future sisterin-law Kate was unable to make it.
