Trump wins Stormy gag over ‘affair’
Jim used to be huge TV star AUDIENCE members walked out of Jim Davidson’s Life Stories chat with Piers Morgan after being disgusted by his sexist and racist remarks.
The comic adopted a West Indian accent as he defended using a character called Chalky in the 1980s.
And the 64-year-old tried to joke his way out of a grilling over claims that he beat up one of his ex-wives.
Of Chalky, he said: “You would not want to do that now as nobody speaks with a West Indian accent. It was all about accents. It was not about black people. It was about watching people.”
Doing the voice, Davidson added: “Have you noticed black guys now don’t talk like that? I don’t know where that accent comes from. It don’t come from no other country does it? This is an accent young black men or even white men like Dappy talk like that.” Asked how black people took the gag, he said: “I don’t know. I’ve not met them all yet. They are fine. We had Alf Garnett and Love Thy Neighbour. People ended up loving him.” But an audience member said some people left after he defended Chalky. And many were shocked as he laughed off claims he hit third wife Alison Holloway. Some clapped as Piers objected to his remarks over an interview she gave in 2001. Davidson said: “It was volatile. What is the point trying to put the record straight? Someone will still call me a wife beater.”
Asked if he would hit a woman, he said “Only a small one”, to which Piers said: “You know by saying that other women will hate you?”
And Davidson joked of ex-wife Tracey Hilton: “Now she was a good fighter. I kept out the way of her.”
But Piers, 52, said: “When you joke about domestic violence there was probably a time when you could do that. That time has gone.”
Davidson also told of the BBC paying him €1million to get him off TV as he was not politically correct.
ITV declined to comment but a source said the gags about hitting women will not be in the final edit. ■ Life Stories: Jim Davidson is on ITV on Saturday at 9.50pm.

Comic with host Piers DONALD Trump has won a temporary gagging order against porn star Stormy Daniels to stop her talking about their alleged affair.
The adult film star, whose real name is Stephanie Clifford, is suing the President, saying the nondisclosure deal she was paid €105,500 for is invalid.
White House spokeswoman Sarah Huckabee Sanders said: “The president has addressed these (claims) directly and made very well clear that none of these allegations are true.”
