Travel appdate

- BY NIGEL THOMPSON

Get direct access to a holiday rep on your smartphone and much more with the cutting-edge new app from Virgin Holidays.

Richard Branson’s tour operator says this technology is “just the beginning” and expects hundreds of thousands of customers will be using it by 2020.

Besides support from reps at the touch of a button – by phone, email or live chat – it also stores all holiday travel info, avoiding the need to print everything out and it’s available offline to avoid roaming costs.

Other features include:

View a countdown clock to the start of the holiday.

See payment history and any outstanding balance.

Check flight departure and arrival times, terminal information, room ratings, accommodation check-in and check-out times and location.

Monitor car hire pick-up and drop-off details or airport transfers.

Keep tabs on booked extras, including lounges and excursions.

Virgin Holidays boss Joe Thompson said: “What better way to put customers in control of their holiday by placing everything they need in the palm of their hands?

‘’They’ll have peace of mind by not only having direct access to their travel plans at any time, but by knowing that help or advice is just a swipe away, allowing them to concentrate on making great travel memories.”

Available now for Apple and Android devices.
