Emma broke the news about the latest state of her health late on Wednesday night, saying: “I found out today the cancer has spread to my brain, I’m not scared, just heartbroke­n.

“I love my life, my children and all of you my newfound friends.”

Emma was told in court liability was admitted by the HSE and US laboratory Quest Diagnostic­s Inc.

She and her family had sued the HSE, the US lab and the National Maternity Hospital. Quest had admitted to misreading her results in 2010 and 2013.

The brave mum has been overwhelme­d with support from the public since revealing her latest health update.

One person wrote: “Devastated for you and your five babies. You have shown them and us what true courage is.

“Every mother in Ireland will think of your kids as our own. Love to you and your children.”

Another added: “You are a very special person and I know you did not want to inspire the nation but you have. Heartbroke­n for you. So enjoy those kids of yours they will carry you forever in their hearts. God bless you all.”
