Rain to make a comeback..
Tropical storm could blow heatwave away
IRELAND’S heatwave could come to an abrupt end this weekend due to Tropical Storm chris.
It is now off the east coast of the US and, while it has been almost stationary in the past 24 hours, it is expected to strengthen to a hurricane today. While it will not come close to Ireland, the remnants could have a major say on our heatwave and help bring an end to water restrictions.
Carlow Weather explained on its Facebook page: “Tropical Storm Chris is causing uncertainty in weather models for next weekend and beyond. “The track could have a big influence on whether we hold our settled warm weather or see a breakdown with some rain.
“The weekend is looking mainly warm and settled again but until Tropical Storm or possibly Hurricane Chris decides what path he will take, weather models don’t know how to forecast beyond next week.”
Meanwhile, Met Eireann has warned some rain and a dip in temperatures is on the cards.
The forecaster said: “Tuesday will be mostly dry with hazy sunshine, but somewhat cloudier in the north and northwest where there is the risk of an odd shower later.
“Top temperature of 22C to 25C generally, but again slightly cooler in the north and northwest with top temperatures around 18C to 20C. “Wednesday will be a rather cloudy day with scattered showers, some of the showers locally heavy in parts of the north and west of the country.
“Top temperatures generally 18C to 20C but it will be a degree or two warmer in southern areas. North or northeasterly breezes will be light.
“Thursday will be a mostly dry day with a mix of cloudy periods and bright or sunny spells.”
