DOIREANN Garrihy has revealed Podge and Rodge were dressed as Donald Trump and Kim Jong-un during her audition for the show’s reboot.

The 25-year-old social media star is set to join the twins at Ballydung Manor as the series makes its comeback in October.

Opening up about the audition that landed her the new presenting job, Doireann revealed she was surprised to see Podge and Rodge dressed as the two infamous leaders.

Speaking on Today

FM’S Dermot and

Dave, she said: “I was outside the room talking to the producer and she said, ‘So you’re going to go in and they’re not going to be there. They’re just going to pop up from underneath the table and throw you into it’.

“They interviewed me as though I was a guest. So they popped up and one was dressed as Trump and the other as Kim Jong-un.”

The Spin 1038 host, who has more than 150,000 followers on Instagram, said she filled Podge and Rodge in on everything to do with social media during the audition.

She added: “That was a great flow of conversation at the start and then they kind of asked me about the things they missed out on in the eight years they haven’t be around. I kinda just forgot it was an audition… it was great craic.”

Doireann, whose sister is former Fair City actress Aoibhin Garrihy, said she’s delighted to be working on the new show as she was a fan of the original.

She added: “I was of course [a fan]. It was kind of awkward, when they were on I was maybe 14 or 15 so if I was in the sitting room with my dad it would be awkward with the jokes being pretty crude.

“I’d be like, ‘Oh, I’ll make the tea’ and leave the room.”

And although she’s one of broadcasting’s rising stars, Doireann recently told how she was targeted by bullies growing up.

She said: “I don’t know how I would’ve coped being a teenager nowadays with social media and everything.”
