Shop staff celebrate jackpot in Co Meath yesterday A SHOPKEEPER who sold a €4.7million Lotto ticket said the huge win has whipped his customers into a jackpot frenzy.

The punter struck gold in the Londis Store in Summerhill, Co Meath, last Friday.

It turned the player into an instant multi-millionaire after 26, 27, 35, 40, 41, 42 and the bonus 7, rolled out of the drum on Wednesday night.

With the rumour mill in overdrive as to the punter’s identity, shop owner Garret Jordan said: “The whole village is gripped by the win. There is great excitement and everyone is praying the winner is local.

“We have been absolutely inundated with customers this morning who are checking their tickets in the hope they’ve scooped the jackpot. There is a real party atmosphere so we’ll be enjoying the celebrations for the next few days.”

This is the ninth Lotto win so far this year with jackpot prizes alone exceeding €43million.

Meanwhile, National Lottery officials have urged players to check online accounts to see if they if they scooped Wednesday’s Lotto Plus 2 top prize of €250,000.

The winning numbers were 8, 19, 30, 33, 36, 47 and the bonus 31.

Yesterday, Lotto bosses announced new changes to the Lotto Plus game. The chances of winning across the Lotto and Lotto Plus has now increased from one in 17 to one in 10.

However, the price of a Lotto Plus line will rise by 50 cent to €1. But there will be no increase in the price of a Lotto panel.

The National Lottery said the “exciting new enhancements... will mean more winners” and up to 16 new millionaires a year.

Chief executive Dermot Griffin said: “We are delighted to announce a series of new enhancements which will see more winners and more millionaires, with the top prize in Lotto Plus rising to €1million.

“Lotto with new Lotto Plus now offers more chances than ever to win and more cash prizes, which means there will be 50% more winners.

“This massive prize boost will create an average of 16 new millionaires every year.”
