- BY LUCY THORNTON BY STEPHEN MAGUIRE

John and Susan EGYPT’S Prime Minister has vowed to “leave no stone unturned” to find out what killed a UK holiday couple last week.

John and Susan Cooper died in Steigenberger Aqua Magic Hotel in Hurghada.

PM Mostafa Madbouly made his promise to Thomas Cook boss Peter Fankhauser on Wednesday.

Mr Cooper, 69, died in his room and Mrs Cooper, 63, died in hospital.

Thomas Cook knew of 13 cases of illness while Mr and Mrs Cooper were at the resort, said ITN. Guest Isabelle Westward said: “Flies were everywhere. It was dirty and unclean.”

They helped nurses decorate the room for his milestone birthday and incredibly he opened his eyes on Monday before hugging his parents as they shed of tears of joy.

His aunt Geraldine Magee said the community is overjoyed and goodwill messages wishing Shaun a speedy recovery have flooded the family home.

She added: “His first words were mum and dad, I love you. We’re all just hoping and praying for Shaun.

POSITIVE

“He has a long road to go but the fact he has awoken and is speaking is very positive.

“His parents have been by his side from as soon as they could get out there and they have been just willing him to get better.

“For them to hear him speak and to tell them that he loved them is beyond their wildest dreams.

“We would like to thank everybody who has done anything in any way for Shaun.
