outrage as 2019 ‘early bird’ picnic tickets sell out

Fans hit out after festival passes snapped up

ELECTRIC Picnic fans were outraged yesterday after “early bird” tickets for next year’s festival sold out in a record four hours.

Despite it only being four days since revellers left Stradbally Hall, people were eager to nab the passes.

While many may still be struggling from the weekend’s antics, a limited number of tickets were snatched up just hours after going on sale.

Family camping, family camper van and camper van tickets all sold out within minutes.

And it didn’t take too long before early bird and loyalty passes were sold out for the festival on August 30 to

September 1.

One person wrote online: “Raging that I couldn’t get my EP early bird ticket.

“This seems like a lot of people having similar problems, sounds like a second wave of early birds should be released ASAP!”

Another said: “Electric Picnic’s entire marketing campaign is purely based on FOMO (fear of missing out). Releasing batches of tickets at certain intervals, letting them sell out, causing panic for the next batch and so on and so forth until all tickets are gone.”

A third person joked: “How do people have money to afford an electric picnic ticket like five days after Electric Picnic, I can barely afford the train right now.” Organisers announced before last weekend that 2,500 extra tickets will be available next year bringing the capacity to 57,500.

An Electric Picnic spokesman told the Irish Mirror that tickets are likely to go back on sale in October for an increased price.
